ANNETTE TREACY

Artist Statement

My art practice is based on exploring materials and process. I’m interested in how things evolve through making — how colour, texture, and surface interact as I work. A materially experimental foundation guides the work. Colour is central to my approach. I often let colour lead the direction of the work. My current work focuses on what painting can be when it goes beyond the traditional flat canvas. I enjoy questioning the limits of painting and finding new ways to work with surface and structure. My process often moves between control and spontaneity — allowing for chance while still maintaining intention.
